Bombay Duck
A small, slender marine fish (about 12–18 cm) with soft, delicate flesh and almost no bones — known for its smooth, melt-in-the-mouth texture.
Commonly found in coastal waters and usually swims in schools along Vietnam’s central and southern shores.
Main spawning periods: July–August and October to early the following year, when the catch volume peaks.
In some areas (such as the waters of Cà Mau), Bombay duck is most abundant from after Lunar New Year to late May, aligning with its reproductive cycle.
Scientific: Harpadon nehereus
English: Bombay Duck
Vietnamese: Cá Khoai
Korean: 물천구
Chinese: 九肚魚/ 龙头鱼
