SILVER CROAKER

General Characteristics: has an elongated oval body, slightly compressed, with a large head and a dorsal fin split into two parts (front hard, back soft). It has small teeth, and its large swim bladder can produce sounds for communication.

Meat Characteristics: is meaty, low in bones, with a fatty posterior body. Its meat is sweet, nutty, soft, and rich. Traditional medicine considers it highly nutritious.

Behavior and Habitat: lives near the shore, is omnivorous and form large schools on muddy and sandy bottoms, often hiding in reefs.

Reproduction: spawns mainly in February and August. Each female lays 7,055 - 82,855 eggs, with a relative fecundity of 60,830 - 437,830 eggs/kg, weighing 65,11g - 189,47g.
