RIBBON FISH
Appearance: Is named for its slim, ribbon-like, silver-colored body that is laterally compressed. It has prominent sharp teeth. The body tapers to a point and the tip is often broken.
Distribution: Is widely distributed in the Indo-Pacific and Atlantic, throughout tropical and temperate waters of the world.
Habitat: Inhabits in continental shelf up to 350m depth but are occasionally found in shallow waters and at the surface at night.
Fishing Season: The peak season is between September and December.
Benefits for health: Is rich in protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and minerals like selenium and iodine which are essential nutrients for the body.
